The same way every published band was built: primary evidence gathered and verified for the specific role, market, and seniority, then normalised to monthly total cash. Custom requests run the identical sourcing process on a role we have not yet covered, so the output holds to the same standard as the rest of the Pay Index.
One source is an anecdote and two can be an outlier pair. Three independent verified sources is the floor at which a range becomes defensible, and it is the same floor every published Tenure band clears. A custom band is never an exception to that rule.
You pay nothing. If sourcing cannot reach the three-source floor within the turnaround window, we tell you plainly, explain what we did find, and there is no fee. We would rather return no band than a number we cannot stand behind.
